This article describes content that exists in the game's data, but is not obtainable by normal means.

The Obsidian Block is an indestructible block. It is not able to be destroyed by the player by any means outside of Creative mode.

Certain scenes, such as mazes, are constructed from Obsidian Blocks.

Spawning

Terrain Generation

Generates surrounding the Chipped blade temple, Ra-akar's arena, Omoroth's arena, and the Mazes in which you obtain the Clear Gemstone and the Broken Handle.

The border at the very edge of the world is made of this.

The Shimmering frontier pockets used to generate with Obsidian instead.

Also, a random Obsidian block spawns at the corner of the Hive mothers arena for no particular reason.

• 1.1.0.2: Breaking Oasis Blocks should no longer create Obsidian Blocks that persist until the world is reloaded. This fix also applies to worlds already affected by this issue.
